My platelets were 90 on 6/30. With Eli they were 86 at this point. I haven''t started the Prednisone but will next Friday. So I''m wondering if they''ll get above 100. If so that means epidural c-section. Which I''m all for!
Just a platelet update. I like to jot it down here just because it helps me keep track. I did the same with Ethan and Eli and it''s nice to be able to look back and see what they were when I was pregnant with them. So I had them checked yesterday and they were 94. Still not bad but not great. So in a month and a half they went from 91-99-94. I think she''s going to have me get them checked every 2 weeks from here on out. Next appointment is the 16th and I''ve only gained 16 lbs! That''s great compared to the total of 33 with both boys.
Ethan''s last day of school is the 27th. I think he''s had a great first year of preschool. I wish he could go to St. Andrew''s next year but it''s just too much driving. We''re in Indy enough as it is. Plus in bad weather with 2 other''s, it''ll be kind of hard to get in and out. If he goes over here, JR can take him if I need him to or he can stay home with the little ones.
Eli is still working on potty training. We really haven''t seen any progress but I''m not pushing it. Hopefully with summer and swimming in the backyard, we can just let him run around and he''ll figure it all out. He''s a smart one! :)
We''ve agreed on a name for baby girl...Addison. But she doesn''t have a middle name yet. This is the name we had picked if Eli was going to be a girl. We couldn''t agree on anything else so Addison it is! My platelets went back up to 99 as of May 13th. Which is great. I start going to the Dr every two weeks now. I wonder if being pregnant with a girl makes any difference, I doubt it but we can think it does. :)
We found out on April 2nd that we''re having a little GIRL!! We''re so excited!! Planning is comeing along nicely too. We''ve got the bedding, crib and car seat picked out. She''s already got a little closet of clothes too. Thanks to daddy. His little princess has to be nicely dressed. :)
As of yesterday my platelets are 91. Which I think, is still higher than they were with Eli. I go to see Dr. Blake, my perinatologist in Tulsa on Friday. She''s probably just going to tell me that I have to go on Prednisone again at 34 weeks, just like with Eli. Nothing new. :) Glad I''ve been through all of this before.
Ethan is playing soccer again this spring. His first game was FREEZING and he did NOT want to play. He played about 5 minutes his second game but his third game was GREAT!!!! He did so well and we are just so proud of him! He has another game this evening and I''m going to get some more video to post on here.
Eli is just as silly and such a daredevil as ever. He''s talking up a storm as usual and is really starting to be an independent little boy. We''re working on potty training but not pushing it. He actually told me today that he had to go, even though it was already after the fact. I''d say he goes about 3 times a day on the potty chair with me randomly putting him on it. Hopefully it clicks by the time he''s 3 like it did for Ethan. Won''t that be nice. :)
Yes that''s right. Ethan and Eli are going to be big brothers! We found out at the beginning of December. First appointment is the 23rd. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts.
Ethan has been doing very well in school. He''s talking so much better. Except when he gets in a hurry. :) He has made lots of new friends. He''s in a class with 10 other boys and no girls. But that doesn''t really matter. He just had his first Christmas program and did so well and looked so handsome!
Eli is growing like a weed. He talks so well too. He can say just about anything that you ask him. Him and Ethan are like two peas in a pod. They wrestle and play together very well now. You can definitely tell that they''re going to be great brothers.
Both boys are pretty excited about the new baby. Ethan''s been very curious and has questioned the concept a lot lately. Eli points to his belly and says it''s his baby. lol
Hopefully we''ll have some good news at out appointment on Wednesday.
Ethan did so well at school on Tuesday! They painted, played outside and made a chefs hat. He said that he fought with one boy but didn''t get in trouble. I asked him if he was going to go back on Thursday and he said yet.
Today was Ethan''s 2nd day of pre-scool. He was ready to go too! Eli and I walked him to the front door of his classroom. I pointed him to where to hang his backpack up and that was it. He walked right in his classroom and waved to me. He was happy to see me when I went to pick him up. I think he''s really getting the hang of it. Eli and him played so well together yesterday. I think they missed each other a little. Hope that continues too. :)
Today was Ethan''s 1st day of Pre-school!!!! I can''t believe he''s already old enough for school. He did great too! JR decided to go to work a little late so he could walk in with us. I think Ethan really liked that. We walked him into his classroom and the teacher already had the stuff ready for them to fingerpaint. He sat right down and started painting. Then more kids showed up and they painted too. He decided that he wanted to go play with the cars and that''s when we thought it was probably a good time for us to leave quietly. I told him I''d be back to pick him up at 11 and that was it. No tears or anything! We''re so proud of him!!
Last night was the first night of no paci for Eli and he did great!!! So hopefully this sticks and he''s done with it for good. The next step for him is to move him into a big boy bed in a few months. That should definitely be an experience. I''m hoping he does as well as Ethan did with the transition.
Ethan starts school in 1 week from today!!! I can''t believe it. I''m so excited for him and I think he''ll do really well!! We haven''t even went school shopping yet. I know bad mommy. We''re saving it for this weekend I guess. :) He has an open house on Sunday to see his classroom and meet his teachers. Then an ice cream social afterwards. I remember my first ice cream social when I started school there in the 4th grade. Oh the memories!
Time to update! We went to St Louis a week ago for a few days and had a blast!! Their zoo is AMAZING and I would go back just to see that again. I think the boys had a lot of fun just staying in the hotel room. We were on the 24th floor of the Hilton at the Ballpark. One one side you got a view of the arch and on the other you got a few into the ballpark. Pretty neat. We had the arch view and it was still worth it. It stormed a few nights we were there but during the day, the weather cooperated for us. St Louis has some of the prettiest parks I''ve ever seen!
Ethan starts school on August 18th. I''m so excited for him! That''s about 3 months away and I really hope he does well. I''m a little worried about the teachers though. I don''t think they''ve experienced kung fu Ethan yet. :)
This morning Eli signed thank you to me. Which I''ve only really showed him twice. Ethan was doing it and so Eli decided that he was going to. It''s amazing how easy it is to teach kids to sign. Now we''ll have to work on some new ones.
I forgot to add that Eli had his 15 month check up in March. He''s a short chubby one. He''s almost 3 lbs smaller than Ethan was and 2.5 inches shorter. :) He''s in the 75th percentile for his weight and the 25th for his height. But is off the chart for the average of the two together.
Ethan had his first soccer game on Saturday and it was definitely an experience. I think he''s one of the youngest on the team. He has another game tonite and keeps telling me that he''s not going to play so we''ll see. :)
I had to go to a preschool meeting last night at St Andrews. This is definitely the preschool that we want him to go to. It seems like it''s going to be something perfect for him. Another mom said that she''s sad that they''re growing up so fast and already in preschool and yes I agree with her but I''m also excited that he''s getting this opportunity. One of the teachers has a masters degree in montessori education. She''ll be his teacher when he''s in the 3 yr old class. So I''m very happy about that. A lot of preschools just require their teachers to have certificates in teaching so this is definitely a huge step up from that. This is exactly the kind of environment that we want our kiddos to start out in. So August 18th will be his first day of school.
Eli is silly as ever. He''s learned to dance and sing when music is on and it''s hilarious. I have new videos and pictures that I just need to upload of the two of them. They both really enjoyed the snow on March 28-29th. We took Ethan sledding while Eli slept in the truck (he was only a few feet from us). But I really think Ethan loved it. :)
We were planning on signing Ethan up for Blast Ball which is like Tball for the little kids. But he''s not old enough yet. I think you had to be 4 before June 1 or something like that. So we''ll definitely be doing that next year. I think he would REALLY enjoy that. Both boys are way into baseball.
Other than that, we''ve been busy fixing the fence. :) Seems like a never ending project really. We no longer have the camper so we don''t have to mess with that anymore. I think we might look into something a little smaller and easier to just take out and go. We''ve been trying to plan a few small family vacations for this summer before Ethan starts school. We''ve though about San Antonio and Sea World and then also St Louis. It''s only a 5 hr and 45 min drive and there is so much to do there. Especially for kids. The last time we went, Grants Farm was one of Ethan''s favorite places to go. He got to feed the baby goats with a bottle. :)
Ok I didn''t mean to make this a novel but I hadn''t updated in a while. Off to find the videos and photos to upload.
Eli''s been saying a few words lately. Today he just said "kiss". He''s been saying dog and cat for a few weeks now. I think he''s getting tired of trying to communicate by pointing at things and now he''s really trying to talk instead of that. Everyone knows he can jabber like it''s no ones business. :)
We can officially say that we have a walker now. Eli''s been taking a few steps for about a week now and these last few days, he''s really taken off. He walked clear across our kitchen, the long way. I''d say 80% of the time, he''s walking.
Eli''s 1st Birthday party was yesterday and I think he had a lot of fun. I think both boys did. They took naps right after everyone left and slept until 6, then turned around and went to bed at around 8:30. Eli has been playing with all of his new toys today and has really been enjoying all of them!
Today is the first day of snow and the boys are really excited. Eli''s been looking out our big window in the front room and just giggling and Ethan''s been begging me to go outside. I know it won''t last but it sure it pretty.
Eli said "dog" a few days ago. He said it plain as day too. I think he''s been trying with a few more words too.
Ethan had his first dentist appointment yesterday! He did so well!! I couldn''t believe it! I mean I knew he would do well but he was excellent! He sat on my lap in the exam chair and immediately opened his mouth for the assistant. She took out the little mirror tool and told him what it did. She asked him if he wanted to wear sunglasses because of the bright light but he said no. So then Dr. P came over and Ethan opened big and wide as soon as he saw him. He let him put the mirror is his mouth and everything! He bit down so Dr. P could see how his bite was too. He got to pick out 3 prizes for being such a great little boy. I even got commended because I brought him in so young. They said that it''s really important to bring them in at this age so they get a feel for the Dr and the office. He just loved the girls there too because of course they gave him his prizes. We were in and out in 10 minutes and most of the time taken up was him making up his mind on which 3 toys he wanted. :) So needless to say, Mom and Dad are very proud of their boy!
Eli had his first visit to the emergency room this afternoon. He''s actually the first out of both boys. He had been running a fever for a day or so and it got up to 105. We decided that it was time to take him in. They told us it was just a virus but gave us a script for antibiotics to start on saturday if he still had a fever.
I think I can officially say that we''re potty trained! Ethan hasn''t had any accidents (with the exception of the night time pull up) for about the last 2-3 weeks. It''s almost like as soon as he turned 3 a light bulb came on. He''s doing so great and mommy and daddy are very proud of him
We had his birthday party on the 28th with family and it was so much fun! Ethan loves hanging out with his family so much! He got loads of toys and is very thankful for them all!!
Eli is crawling normal now although he still results to army crawling when in the house because he can really scoot on these hardwood floors. He likes to yell at the cats and dogs and it''s so cute! I can''t believe he''s already almost 10 months old. Time is just flying by us. We''re absolutely enjoying everyday but I want my babies to stay little a while longer. :)
I haven''t updated the boys'' page in a while. Let''s see if I can get it all into one post.
At 6 months (June) Eli got his first 2 teeth. At 8 months 2 on the top came through and then 2 more followed about a week later. So they''re still working on coming through all the way. But he''s officially got 6 teeth now.
At 7 months he really started to army crawl. He''s still not a crawler but he can boogy around army style.
At 8 months he pulled up for the first time on the bouncy chair we had in the office. It''s pretty low to the ground but he got on his toes all the way. Now he''s pulling up like a pro. Still a little wobbly and likes to stand on those toes but he''s getting better every day. Now we''re just waiting for that first step.
I took him to the Dr today for his 9 month check up and he''s a healthy 22lbs 4oz. He did great and she said he''s a healthy little boy!
He''s starting to wave "hi" and "bye" now too. It''s so cute because my ex boss was talking to me at the clinic and wasn''t paying attention to him. He was screaming and waving at her so she would pay attention to him instead.
Ethan goes in for his 3 year old check up on October 1st. He''s been to the Dr a few times in the last few months for ear infections and I''m thinking he''s probably close to 35 lbs.
He''s always been a picky eater when it comes to vegetables but we''ve been telling him that they make his muscles grow and it''s worked!! He ate a whole helping of green beans one night, broccoli the next and potatoes the night after that. Crazy little kid! We''re working on his ABC''s now and recognizing letters. He''s great with colors and shapes. We''re also working on numbers. For some reason he likes to count 3,4,9 instead of 1,2,3. :) But he''ll catch on. We''ve been going to the Cherryvale football games on Friday''s and he LOVES it! I can''t believe how well behaved he is for a 3 year old. Yes a little onry but what 3 year old isn''t. I think Eli''s got him beat in the onry department though. This little one is going to be a handful when he starts walking. He''s already testing us when we tell him no.
That''s about all I can think of right now. I''ve been super busy with school, talking a full time schedule this semester, and JR''s been busy with work and house stuff. I promise to update this more often. I plan on putting some more pictures on here soon too. Ethan''s birthday party is Sept 28th at 4:30 at our house (in case you don''t get the invite).
Eli had his 6 month check up today. Still growing like a weed! I think he''s going to be a little smaller than Ethan was at this age. Mostly just shorter. :) I''ll be putting some new pics and videos on here soon!
We took Eli to the doctor for his 4 month check up on the 25th. He was 16lbs 10 oz. It amazes me how close in size the 2 boys are. He is 6 oz away from what Ethan was at 4 months. He got his shots yesterday and did really well! Hardly cried at all. He really just did this little pouty face. I was impressed.
Sorry I haven''t updated in a while! We''ve been super busy with doing things around the house. The fence is almost done! Woo hoo! Let''s see, we''re still working on potty training Ethan. He''s doing great though! The weekends are the easiest and today he''s only had 1 accident. Now if we could just get him to tell us when he has to go, he''d be done. He''s added so many new phrases to his vocabulary too. It amazes me some of the things that he says. Right now his favorite movie is Monsters Inc. That''s all we get to watch on movie night. But that''s ok. We like it too.
Eli''s growing like a weed! We had to change his 4 month appointment from April 11th to the 25th so he''ll be more like 4 1/2 months. I''m guessing he''ll weigh somewhere around 17-18. He''s such a chunky monkey. He''s so giggly too. His baptizm went so well and he was soooooo happy during it! I need to get some pics from family members because I forgot one of my many cameras. Too much on my mind that day. Ha! He had his first overnight with Grandma Sheryl last weekend and I think (hope) that went well. She also had Ethan and cousin Lexy so she definitely had her hands full. He''s been teething like crazy and drooling all over the place so I''m hoping he gets some teeth before Ethan did. We made the switch to cloth diapers too! And I really thing he likes them. I actually put one on Ethan last night (they''re 1 size which is super nice) because he''s been peeing out his pullup at night and voila! No wet pj''s this morning! Woo hoo makes for a happier momma that I don''t have to wash the sheets everyday. :) They have cloth training pants that have snaps at the sides that we''re looking into. Just something little that we can give back to the environment.
We''ve been working on going green around the house. Cloth diapers, reusable or paper sacks, no additive detergent and no additive all purpose cleaner. I''m currently reading a book about green gardening. Once the fence is finished I might put some of that to use. We''re also working on getting our recycling bins together. I think the little things that you can teach your kids is what matters most. Hopefully they''ll catch on. :)
Eli rolled over! From his back to almost his tummy. He gets his legs kicking and just goes right on over!! Woo hoo!! And now he''s pretty much sleeping though the night, with the exception of getting up once at the most. That makes mommy and daddy very happy. :)
We can''t believe Eli is already a month old and growing like a weed. He had his 1 month check up the other day and he''s doing great! Only a 2 oz difference from what Ethan weighed at 1 month. Hopefully he''ll start sleeping a little more through the night now. That would make mommy and daddy very happy. :) Big brother is really proud of Eli too. The other day we were at Walmart and Eli got a little cranky in the cart. Ethan turned around and gently rocked his carrier and was telling his "Shhhh Shhhh baby". Then he picked up his pacifier and tried giving it to him. He was so gentle! It was so cute!
Eli Mason arrived on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 12:24pm. Everything went as planned. I was nervous of course but it went much better and more smoothly as I expected. I''m so happy for that. Eli had swallowed a bit of fluid when they pulled him out and he didn''t want to breathe on his own. But they fixed him up and he is just perfect! He was also born with baby rash and was allergic to the detergent that the hospital used. But as soon as we brought him home, his face cleared right up.
He''s a strong boy too! He''s already interested in lifting his head. He''s sleeping 4 hour stretches at night which makes mommy and daddy very happy. :) He a screamer too. The only time he really cries is when he''s getting his diaper changed or taking a bath. He really doesn''t like to be naked. He looks just like Ethan did when he was born. They could be twins in the pictures. It''s amazing!
Big brother is getting more and more interested in him too. The first few days he really didn''t want anything to do with him but now he''s helping us out by getting the diapers and putting the bottles back on the kitchen counter. I think he''s going to be pretty protective over little brother too. Whenever Eli cries, Ethan comes over to make sure he''s not hurt or anything. It''s so cute!
We''re so fortunate and happy to be a little family of 4. I love my boys!!! All 3 of them. :)
Just wanted to add that on 11/16 my platelets were 86. They hadn''t changed in a week which staying stable is a good thing. Hopefully the prednisone that I''ve been on will make them go above 100 soon so that I can have an epidural c-section instead of going completely under again. I get them checked again on 11/23.
I can''t believe I haven''t updated since July. I know I''m slacking and I need to update Ethan''s page too. Anyway ~ Not much has been going on. Let''s see 3 months ago my platelets were 75, then they went up to 101 in a month but back down to 96. I''m due to have them checked again today so we''ll see where I stand. As far as I know I don''t have to go back and see the specialist any time soon, so that''s good news. We''ve settled on the name Eli. Which I think compliments Ethan very well. We''re still up in the air about a middle name though.
My platelets were 96 again!! That''s a great thing! Now if I could somehow get them up to 100 before I hit 34 weeks, I won''t have to do the steroids. :) Little boy is kicking away in here. Ethan really likes when I sit on the couch next to him and he can rest his arm on my belly. lol He even kissed baby brother the other day. It was so cute and I wish JR would have been home so he could have gotten a picture. I''ll have to see if he''ll do it again sometime.
IT''s A BOY!!!! We''re so excited and there was no mistaking that this one is a boy. He wasn''t shy at all. Everything looked fine so far at my ultrasound and I''m measuring right on track. I have to go back for another one because they couldn''t see the face. His head was right behind my belly button so it was casting a shadow over his face area.
Appointment went well on Monday. I''ve only gained 1/2 a pound. I think I was up about 6 by this time with Ethan but the Dr didn''t seem too worried. I''m starting to get a little pooch too! We got to hear the heartbeat and I''ve been feeling flutters which makes me feel a whole lot better about everything.
I had my appointment with the specialist about my platelets yesterday. She said there''s really nothing to worry about until later on or if I start having nosebleeds. She said that now they will start steroid injections after 35 weeks if my platelets are below 100 (which they''re 83 right now). This way they go up enough to where I won''t have to be under general anesthia and can just have an epidural c-section. We got to see bean again and the heartbeat was a healthy 170!!
