Just an update since we have been so busy and I haven''t had a chance to pop in. Friday was my last day of work! YAY Ethan really started smiling and talking the last few weeks. He''s amazed by his tongue and loves to have you clap his hands together. I don''t know if I can carry him in his carrier much longer. He''s quite the ham! We''re all so excited for his first Christmas!!
Ethan had his 2 month check up today. He''s doing great and growing like a weed!! I knoew he was over 12 lbs. :) He had his first set of shots today. 2 in each thigh. He did great until she stuck him, then as soon as she was done, he was back to sleep. He only wimpered a little afterwards.
We have our days and nights mixed up. :) Ethan likes sleeping like a baby during the day then wants to be up all night. JR has been great though, he even stayed home from work today just so I could get a little rest. Ethan couldn''t have asked for a better daddy!
Grandma Sheryl as our witness, Ethan rolled over to his side today. JR first noticed it and I didn''t really believe him but then Grandma Sheryl was changing him and he did it for her. :) He''s so advanced. LOL
Platelet check today was 68. Not good. Dr Sohaei is going to talk to the specialist about what to do now. Induction was mentioned, but the risk of c-section at 37 weeks is pretty high and we definitly don''t want to go that route.
Had my platelets checked yesterday. They were 82. The lowest they''ve been. The last time they had went back up from 87 to 94. Looks like no epidural for me. Boy that''s something to look forward too. Guess I better start paying attention in childbirth class. :)
Just thought I would add some fun facts about Ethan.
My Birthstone is Opal (Hope) (If I''m an Oct. baby)
My Flower is Calendula or Cosmos (White, Yellow and Varied)
My Astrological Sign is Libra
I''ll be born in the Chinese Year of The Rooster (same as my mommy)
I will start kindergarten in 2011,
be old enough to drive a car in 2021,
and will graduate High School with the Class of 2024
Update on my platelets...Dr Blake called me Thursday morning before we left to go to Tulsa and told me not to waste the trip and she could just talk to me over the phone. What a Dr!!! She sadi that we won''t worry until they''re under 50. Then she would like Dr Sohaei to start steroid therapy and I may be at risk for a platelet transfusion during delivery. Depending on how everything goes. I have to get them checked once a week until Ethan is born. Then Ethan has to be monitored for 1 month after he is born to make sure I didn''t pass anything on to him. What a crazy little disease I have. It''s called Gestational Thrombocytopenia. So now we just watch and see what happens. Also if my platlets are below 100 during labor I can''t have an epidural. Darn!!!
Just an update. Dr Sohaei checked my platelet level again yesterday and it came back 87 (which it should be 150 or above). So I''m going to see Dr Blake. A perinatologist in Tulsa on Thursday. Hopefully she won''t worry because it''s not really really low. Dr S is sending me just to make sure she''s not missing anything.
Doctors appointment today: She said that everything looks great. She wants me to start walking at 35 weeks to help my leg muscles. He''s already head down. Woo Hoo!! He''s still measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule.
Had our Dr''s appointment today. She said everything looked great. Said that I''m still measuring big so she definitly won''t let me go over 41 weeks. (Usually she won''t let you go over 42 weeks but since he''s going to be pretty big she knocked off a week). Hopefully she won''t let me go over 40. :)
Just got back from our 21 week appointment. Everything looked fine and he looks like he''s going to be really active from here on out. He was all twisted up and curled into a little ball. She measured me and said that I''m measuring big which means he''s going to be a big baby boy. We kind of expected that though, seeing as how I was a fat one. :)
We got the room painted yellow! Finally! :) I would post some pics but there''s no light in there so you wouldn''t really be able to see anything. I think we''re going to have to recruit my electrician brother to come over and help us install a light and ceiling fan. It''s coming along just fine though. This is so exciting. I''m just ready to get all of the furniture out of the dining room. :)
Had our 17 week appointment today. I''ve gained 5 pounds which isn''t bad at all and not too little. Dr. Sohaei did an ultrasound in her office and said that she is leaning toward a girl. It''s so funny this whole time I''ve been telling JR it''s a boy and how I want a boy but last night I told him that I''m leaning toward girl now. :) How weird! The baby looks great and big! I can''t believe how much it''s grown. We saw it''s eyes and mouth open. We saw both arms and hands, legs and feet. We saw it''s bladder and stomach. And that beautiful beating heart!
Had another appointment today and it''s the beginning of the 2nd trimester. We had another ultrasound today also. The baby has grown so much it''s unbelievable. It was just swimming around in there, it was so neat and cute! We also got to hear the heartbeat again but I forgot to ask her what the BMP was. :)
I had another Ultrasound done today. I got to hear and see the tiny heartbeat. It was awesome! I got to videotape it so JR could see it too. Our next appointment is next week and she''ll do another ultrasound then, then JR can see and hear it up close. :)
We started making a little progress on the nursery. Not much though, since the rest of the house is a disaster! I think we''re going to do the bathroom 1st, then the floors, then the nursery once we find out what we''re having. What a job!
We had our first appointment yesterday mainly to determine how MANY babies we''re going to have. Mainly because I have a family history of twins. We saw one blob on the screen but Dr Sohaei said that it''s still too early to tell. So we go in again next week to do another Ultrasound. Other than that everything looks great!!! It''s so real now!
Just an update...we decided that we are going to buy the house we live in and have lived in for the past 2 years so we have begun remodeling. We plan on putting new flooring down and painting. Also putting in a new tub. Okay let me rephrase that...JR plans on doing these things. :) No painting or lifting for me. So that''s going to keep us busy for a while.
